Volunteer Opportunities
Classroom docents provide classroom instruction
to students in the Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Delaware public and private
schools to prepare students who will be attending the Student Concerts.
Our volunteers are able to enhance the students' concert experience by
teaching them about the orchestra, and the music that they will be hearing.
Volunteers are needed to help at Student Concerts, Sound-all-Around, Student
Open Rehearsals and the annual Greenfield Competition. The assistance
of the Volunteers enables the Orchestra to provide a wonderful experience
for the hundreds of children and their families, as they experience the
unforgettable sounds of the Fabulous Philadelphians. This is a precious
gift that will have a lasting effect on their hearts, minds and imaginations.
The Volunteer Committeess for The Philadelphia Orchestra participate in
many varied fundraising activities throughout the season. These activities
range from our Opening Night Concert and Gala to the annual Charity Golf
Classic and many other special events. Individual fundraising opportunities
are available to those interested in serving as an Annual Fund Representative.
Our volunteers also help to promote the mission of The Philadelphia Orchestra
through Audience Development, Education and Community Partnership Programs,
and preserving the rich 100-year history of The Philadelphia Orchestra
through the Orchestra's archival and museum collections.
At the Philadelphia Orchestra's new home, The Kimmel Center, volunteers
have the opportunity to act as Philadelphia Orchestra Ambassadors to welcome
concert-goers as they enter the hall.
Volunteer Tour Guides are able to "get inside" The Philadelphia
Orchestra and share the rich history of the Academy of Music and the excitement
of our future in The Kimmel Center with visitors and guests.
The Volunteer Association offers you a chance to help out by offering
your time through general office support, mailings, and education programs.
These opportunities can be on-going, short term projects, or "once
in a while."
As a special treat, the Annual Spring Luncheon allows the opportunity
for Volunteers to show their appreciation to The Philadelphia Orchestra
Musicians for the glorious music that they bring to us, to our city and
to audiences throughout the world. It is also a welcome opportunity for
the musicians to get to know our Volunteers and to express their appreciation
for the countless hours and hard work that the Volunteers dedicate to
the Orchestra.
Note: Some activities may involve an
audition, application, or approval process.
