The Orchestra's First Lady

The Chestnut Hill Volunteer Committee presents a salute to women members of the Orchestra with a book release event for "One Woman In A Hundred, Edna Phillips and The Philadelphia Orchestra." Written by former Chestnut Hill Committee member Mary Sue Welsh, "One Woman In A Hundred" tells the inspiring story of Edna Phillips, The Philadelphia Orchestra's first female musician and the first female Principal player in a major American orchestra. The event will include a cocktail reception, book-signing by author Mary Sue Welsh, and a performance by Elizabeth Hainen, Principal Harpist for The Philadelphia Orchestra.
