Opening Night Concert and Gala of The Philadelphia Orchestra will be held at the University of Pennsylvania on October 13.
The concert, which is led by Chief Conductor Charles Dutoit will be performed at the historic Irvine Auditorium in the Perelman Quad. The concert begins at 7:00 PM as originally scheduled and will be performed without intermission. The Gala Dinner, which immediately follows the concert, will be held at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology.
Acclaimed soprano Deborah Voigt has graciously agreed to join The Philadelphia Orchestra as soloist in its Opening Night Concert on October 13, replacing Dawn Upshaw, who was originally scheduled to appear. Ms. Voigt will perform selections from the Great American Songbook in the Opening Night Concert, which will be held at the University of Pennsylvania’s historic Irvine Auditorium. The previously announced orchestral repertoire remains the same. Ms. Voigt appears by kind permission of The Metropolitan Opera.
Ms. Upshaw has regrettably withdrawn from the Opening Night performance due to a death in her family.
