Bach - The Passion According to St. Matthew
Friday, March 29, 2013
8:00 pm Verizon HallOriginally premiered on Good Friday in 1727, Bach’s setting of the Gospel of St. Matthew features solo voices, children’s choir, double choir, and a double orchestra. Yannick re-introduces this passion oratorio—not performed by the Orchestra in nearly 30 years—over the Easter weekend. These presentations will be staged by renowned theater and opera director James Alexander. Stylized and distilled acting gestures and symbolic lighting add value, understanding, and enjoyment of this Biblical story that contains at its epicenter a very moving human story.
Performed in German with English supertitles.
