Here is a musical travelogue across mainland Europe. Favorite guest conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Brugos begins with Schumann's symphonic portrayal of scenes and scenery along the Rhine River in Germany--and closes with spicy Spanish flavors from Falla's comical ballet score of mistaken identities, The Three-Cornered Hat. In between Philadelphia Orchestra Concertmaster David Kim, celebrating his 10th anniversary with the Orchestra, stars in two French mini-concertos, full of atmosphere and color and authentically delightful gypsy (tzigane) rhythms.
