Description:

The world's foremost Spanish-born conductor, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, presents a performance of a suite from Manuel de Falla's "gypsy ballet" El amor brujo (Love, the Magician). This rich brew of lush favorites continues with solo performances by two of The Philadelphia Orchestra's beloved musicians, Principal Harp Elizabeth Hainen and Principal Cello Hai-Ye Ni, in music by Turina and Saint-Saëns. Balancing out all that romance is Beethoven's storied, thunderous Fifth Symphony, the piece that helped create the image of Beethoven the Defiant, railing against fate.
