Volume 1, Edition 8, May, 2008
Another season ended with a very successful luncheon at the DoubleTree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting.

There was a wonderful turnout of retirees, friends of Porf and Orchestra members. Sadly, as each year goes by we lose more of our colleagues and friends.

Hopefully more Orchestra members will join our ranks in the coming season. We don't want PORF to disappear because of attrition.

I wish I could have moved around more to say hello to my old friends and greet new friends and Orchestra members, but age makes it a bit difficult to hop around as I once was able to do. Fortunately I was able to greet old friends and some new ones as the party started to dwindle to a close. I sincerely hope that next years luncheon will be just as well attended. We hope and pray that those people who couldn't attend this year because of illness will be hale and hearty and join us next year.

Our thanks to Robert Capanna, Executive Director of the Settlement Music School for his wonderful talk.

Hopefully we will be able to have a fine guest speaker next year.

As always I close my newsletters with some humor. In these days we certainly can use a laugh.

Man: Do you serve breakfast here?
Waitress: Sure; what'll it be?
Man: Let me have watery scrambled eggs...some burnt toast...and some weak coffee, lukewarm.
Waitress: Whatever you say, sir.
Man: Now, are you doing anything while that order is going through?
Waitress: Why--no sir.
Man: Then sit here and nag me awhile...I'm homesick!

Finally.... Signs of the times.

Shopper: The way food prices are going up, it soon will be cheaper to eat the money.

PORF wishes everyone a wonderful, happy and healthy summer.

We look forward to seeing all of you in September!
