Advisory of Program Change: February 21, 23-24 Performances

January 30, 2013

(Philadelphia, January 30, 2013)—The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced a program change for its three performances taking place in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center on February 21, February 23, and February 24, 2013. Oliver Knussen’s new composition, originally slated to premiere in Philadelphia will not take place as scheduled. Stokowski’s orchestral transcription of Bach’s Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor will be performed in its place, as part of this season’s ongoing Stokowski centenary celebration. Other works—Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major featuring Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring—remain unchanged.

As previously announced, Gabriela Lena Frank’s Concertino Cusqueño, which was premiered in Philadelphia this past fall, will be performed at Carnegie Hall on Friday, February 22. For more information on The Philadelphia Orchestra, visit www.philorch.org.
