    Orchestra's Summer Season Opens Tonight
The Philadelphia Orchestra's 5-week PNC Concert Series at the Mann Center opens tonight, Monday, June 25, with a concert featuring superstar cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The five-week season features weekday evening concerts at the Mann Center in Fairmount Park, with undercover seating inside the Center's music pavilion as well as seats and green space on the Lawn, with the Philadelphia skyline in the distance. The 2001 season includes events and performances to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Mann Center, which opened in 1976 to provide the Orchestra with a new and permanent summer home for its summer concerts in Fairmount Park. Symphonic concerts have been an annual tradition for The Philadelphia Orchestra since 1930. The 2001 PNC Concert Series continues through July 26, concluding with a performance of Gustav Mahler's epic Symphony No. 2, the "Resurrection," for large orchestra, chorus, and soloists.

Orchestra to Play Free Neighborhood Concert on July 6
The Philadelphia Orchestra performs its next free neighborhood concert on Friday evening, July 6, in West Philadelphia's Clark Park (43rd and Chester). The "University City Neighborhood Concert" begins at 7:00 p.m. and features more than an hour of symphonic music under the baton of Assistant Conductor Rossen Milanov. The concert is presented in collaboration with the University City District, a not-for-profit community corporation established in 1997 to enhance and promote the historic neighborhood surrounding the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. Clark Park has traditionally served as the area's "town green," bringing together people from throughout the the park's vibrant and diverse neighborhood. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics to share with family and friends before and during the musical program. The concert is made possible through a consortium of generous local funders, led by The PNC Financial Services Group as the Premiere Sponsor.
