THE LUNCHEON
We are hoping we have a huge turnout to the luncheon this year. Those of us who are retired, some for a good many years, anxiously look forward to being able to meet orchestra members who have so very successfully replaced
us. Many of the old timers find it very difficult to come to the concerts for one reason or another, so this is the one function that many of us have to meet and chat with our Orchestra members and those retirees who are still able to get around.

Our guest speaker this year is the Executive Director of the Settlement Music School, Robert Capanna. I'm sure he'll have many interesting things to say. The Settlement School has been a breeding ground for many of our successful performers.

I recently received a letter from Jim Pellerite, former principal flute in the Orchestra. He informs me that he and his wife really hope to be able to attend our luncheon this year. Jim was very busy this past year. He was soloist with the Phoenix Symphony for three concerts playing works for Native flute and orchestra. He then did two concerts at Northwestern University where he collaborated with Walfrid Kujala(Chicago Symphony ret.) He repeated the concert at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Not bad for an octogenarian. Hopefully he and his wife are able to attend the luncheon in May.
Looking forward to seeing all that can attend.

HUMOR
I've sure gotten old!
I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes.
I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine. Take 40 medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts.
Have bouts with dementia.
Have poor circulation.
Hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.
Can't remember if I'm, 85 or 92.
Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my drivers license.

See you all at the luncheon!
