Philadelphia Commissions
Celebrating the excellence of the Orchestra’s musicians, three leading international composers of three different styles and backgrounds have been commissioned to create solo works for three of our players. It will be a week of commissions with a different twist as the pairings of the concertos will vary each night. An inspring week not to be missed.
Tchaikovsky Celebration
Spend a warm month of January with the Orchestra and Tchaikovsky’s greatest masterworks. Featured over the month will be his three famous concertos, paired with music of the “Mighty Five,” all Russian contemporaries of Tchaikovsky, who created a distinctively nationalistic sound. Three rising stars of the podium bring fresh and invigorating interpretations of this great master.
Mozart Celebration
Four performances over three days featuring three different programs of Mozart’s opera overtures, piano concertos and symphonies. Experience the composer in a completely unique manner by hearing the variety of combinations of his music in each concert, all in one week.
