Be inspired as Maestro Eschenbach conducts all nine symphonies, spread across the season. Special pre- and post-concert activities throughout the season will highlight aspects of Beethoven's life and work, allowing audiences to rediscover this larger-than-life persona.

Philadelphia Favorites
Wolfgang Sawallisch, Sir Simon Rattle, Peter Oundjian, Charles Dutoit, Yuri Temirkanov and Osmo Vanska all return to lead the Fabulous Philadelphians in concerts throughout the 2005-06 season.

Great artistry abounds as guest artists join the Orchestra for extraordinary music making. Metropolitan Opera superstar countertenor David Daniels; pianists Jean Yves Thibaudet, Alfred Brendel, Emanuel Ax, and Hélène Grimaud; saxophone legend Branford Marsalis; violinist Midori; and many others come to Philadelphia to share in this season of musical moments.

Beethoven, Benjamin Franklin, and Music of Our Time
Join Maestro Eschenbach in an exploration of Beethoven's impact today. Experience new emotions as you listen to Beethoven's majestic symphonies, paired with works of our time, including the world premieres of three exciting pieces commissioned especially for our Orchestra.

Philadelphia resident and Grammy- nominated composer Jennifer Higdon will share her Concerto for Percussion, featuring the outstanding, young Scottish percussionist Colin Currie.

To honor the 300th birthday of Benjamin Franklin, the Orchestra commissioned a new work and held a national competition to select the composer. Yale-based composer Daniel Kellogg, a student of Jennifer Higdon, was selected from over 100 applicants and his piece will premiere during the city of Philadelphia's year-long celebration of Benjamin Franklin.

Noted for his lyrical melodies inspired by the folk music of China, composer Bright Sheng, will bring to life the animals represented in the 12-year Chinese zodiac.
