… Bruckners "Siebente" ist kein religiöses Bekenntniswerk, eröffnet es doch einen weiten Blick in Natur, Welt und Schicksal. Eschenbach hielt den Stirnsatz lebendig in Bewegung, wendete aber auch genug Behutsamkeit im Umgang mit seinem Orchester auf und hatte wiederum die Partitur ganz im Kopf. Dabei gelangen ihm auch berührende poetische Momente. Für das Adagio fand er ein prachtvolles Legato. … Organisch entwickelte Tempomodifikationen belebten das Scherzo, und die … Wärme des Klanges stellte sich im Finale auch noch ein: Da hatte Bruckner endlich alle Herzen entzündet.

… Bruckner's "Seventh" is no religious work of confession, nonetheless it opens a broad view of Nature, World and Fate. Eschenbach kept the first movement alive with motion, and also showed enough care to handling his orchestra, and again had the score completely in his head. In it he also attained affecting poetic moments. For the Adagio he found a gorgeous legato. … Organically developed tempo changes animated the Scherzo, and the warmth of the sound … still adjusted itself in the Finale too: There Bruckner had finally ignited all hearts.
