Harberg Piccolo Concerto
Price Symphony No. 3
This April, we were overjoyed when Yannick and the Orchestra’s recording of Florence Price’s First and Third Symphonies received a 2022 GRAMMY Award for Best Orchestral Performance.
To celebrate the extraordinary work of Florence Price and the Orchestra’s first-ever GRAMMY win, we’re pleased to offer a free encore performance of Price’s powerful Symphony No. 3 on the Digital Stage.
While Price, a Black composer who died in 1953, struggled during her lifetime to get attention for her scores in a largely white world of American orchestras, this award is recognition of her rightful place in the canon of exceptional American classical music.
This incredible program also includes Amanda Harberg’s Piccolo Concerto, a lively work featuring Orchestra piccoloist Erica Peel.
This program runs approximately 1 hour and will be performed without an intermission.
Please note: All Digital Stage events begin with a performance premiere, streaming in real time. Following the performance premiere, the concert will be available for ticket holders to watch on demand for one week.
