Andrés Orozco-Estrada: “I’m thrilled, I’m happy; I’m also a little bit nervous!”

It may be his first time on the podium in front of The Philadelphia Orchestra (he leads subscription concerts February 4-6), but at not-quite age 40, Andrés Orozco-Estrada is already an established conductor. He’s the music director of the Houston Symphony, the chief conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, and principal guest conductor of the London Philharmonic.

A Message from the Chairman of the Academy of Music

Dearest Friends and Family of the Academy of Music,

As I watch the snow fill Rittenhouse Square today, I am glad that the Academy of Music Board of Trustees decided to cancel tonight's 159th Anniversary Concert and Ball.  I am disappointed not to be able to celebrate with you all, of course, but I know we made the right decision.

Now about to begin his fifth season, our top chef, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, put together his own tasting menu at the Kimmel Center Tuesday evening, unveiling all the ways The Philadelphia Orchestra will please music lovers in the 2016-17 season. Together with Orchestra CEO and President Allison Vulgamore, Yannick explored the variety of musical treats in store in the upcoming season.
