Some members of the tour party traveled to Beijing to be ready for a rehearsal and concert with the Starry Sky Orchestra on Monday, while others stayed in Shanghai. Orchestra President and CEO Allison Vulgamore and Executive Vice President for Orchestra Advancement Ryan Fleur were among those who went on to Beijing, for a tour of the Soong Ching Ling Residence, a meeting with officials from the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the Kawai Musical Instrument Manufacturing Company, and a dinner.

Vulgamore and Fleur also held a meeting to discuss future collaborations with the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (the Orchestra’s Beijing Partner on the tour) and the Kawai Musical Instrument Manufacturing Company (the Orchestra’s residency sponsor in Beijing), a Japanese maker of fine pianos and supporter of the Foundation.
