Who’s Who in the "Tosca" Cast

Get to know the international cast of opera stars who will take the stage in this month’s presentation of Puccini’s Tosca.

Jennifer Rowley

Playing the role of: Floria Tosca (the star)

Born in: Cleveland, OH

Three things you should know:

1) She’s got Tosca in her blood, having sung the role at the Metropolitan Opera, Nashville Opera, Finger Lakes Opera, and New Orleans Opera, among others.

2) She made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 2014, as Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème.

3) She’s just launched a new video series, AsktheDiva, where she answers questions from young singers.

 

Yusif Eyvazov

Playing the role of: Mario Cavaradossi (the lover)

Born in: Algiers, Algeria

Three things you should know:

1) This past December, he opened La Scala’s season with Giordano’s Andrea Chénier to critical acclaim.

2) He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the 2015-16 season, as Calaf in Puccini’s Turandot.

3) He’s married to famed opera soprano Anna Netrebko, and the duo recently released a new CD titled Romanza.


Ambrogio Maestri

Playing the role of: Baron Scarpia (the bad guy)

Born in: Pavia, Italy

Three things you should know:

1) He made his professional debut in 2001 during the Verdi Centennial, performing in Falstaff conducted by Riccardo Muti.

2) He has performed the role of Sir John Falstaff more than 250 times, from Brazil to Japan.

3) He gave his first public performance in his family’s restaurant in Italy.
