The musicians are not the only ones who have to prepare. Gregg Whiteside, the host of the Orchestra’s Sunday radio broadcasts on WRTI 90.1 FM, sits in a booth high above the Cultural Centre’s auditorium to rehearse his script for the live broadcasts of the Orchestra’s May 18 and 19 Hong Kong performances, heard at 8 AM in the Philadelphia region. The first concert of the 2016 Tour of Asia & China Residency and the Orchestra’s first appearance in Hong Kong since 2005: Yannick and the Fabulous Philadelphians performed Brahms’s Second Symphony and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherazade, and, as an encore, Glazunov’s Petit adagio from “Autumn” from The Seasons.
