We were delighted to learn that our Artist-in-Residence Hilary Hahn is expecting her second child in spring 2018. As Hilary welcomes her new addition to the family, she must withdraw from this performance of Peter and the Wolf. We wish Hilary and her family the best during this exciting time.
We are deeply grateful that captivating performer Michael Boudewyns of Really Inventive Stuff has agreed to participate in place of Hilary Hahn. The program for this Family Concert will take place as scheduled.
Prokofiev's classic children's tale, Peter and the Wolf, comes to life in this enchanting performance featuring Principal Guest Conductor Stéphane Denève and Michael Boudewyns of Really Inventive Stuff who will join together to tell this beloved tale in new and surprising ways.Come early for a Pre-Concert Adventure hosted by Settlement Music School teaching artists. Starting at 10:00 AM, percussionist Andy Thierauf and dancer Sean Thomas Boyt lead a hands-on workshop that combines music and dance. After a short talk on the history of dance and music as well as some background on their own percussion and dance duo, they will demonstrate some original work. You'll also get a chance to create some new choreography as members of the audience!
