7:30 pm Perelman Theater

Share your voice with us! Join us for an App Launch event on Thursday, May 4, at 7:30 PM at the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater. This will be a free and interactive event for the community to learn about composer Tod Machover's new work, Philadelphia Voices, which has been commissioned by The Philadelphia Orchestra. Tod will introduce the new app and other related software that will enable everyone in Philadelphia to contribute to the piece, which will premiere in the spring of 2018. Seating will be general admission and is first-come, first-served with an opportunity to sit on stage for an intimate view of the presentation, depending on availability.

Come to the Kimmel Center early! The App Launch begins with an interactive computer lab at 6:30 PM in Commonwealth Plaza. In partnership with MIT Media Lab and Drexel ExCITe Center, savvy students will walk you through an exciting digital experience. You can try out Hyperscore, an interactive composition software developed by the MIT Media Lab and other cool musical tools as well!

A quintet from The Philadelphia Orchestra-violinists Yiying Li and Daniel Han; violist Marvin Moon; cellist Gloria dePasquale; and bassist David Fay-will join Tod on stage, as well as members of the Keystone State Boychoir and Pennsylvania Girlchoir. It will be an evening of great music, visionary technology, and ear-stretching experiences!

Crowdsourced symphonies are a project of the MIT Media Lab, with generous support from Knight Foundation.
