We're HEAR at the Kimmel: A Free Sensory-Friendly Concert
To culminate a week of over 30 activities throughout Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Orchestra presents a free sensory-friendly concert in Verizon Hall for the entire community. Sensory-friendly performances are designed to create a welcoming environment for families with children who are on the autism spectrum, may have sensory sensitivities, and anyone who may benefit being in a more relaxed environment.
Anyone is welcome to attend (with free, first-come, first-served tickets), and we especially invite people with cognitive and physical disabilities, sensory sensitivities, and learning differences.
- We're offering a safe and welcoming environment for all concertgoers, featuring:
-Pre-concert activities starting at 5:00 PM:
Music, movement, and percussion
Instrument Petting Zoo
Arts and crafts
-A shush-free concert: Making noise and verbalizing is okay.
-Flexible seating: It's okay to move around or find another seat.
-Lights stay on at low levels through the concert.
-Trained musicians, ushers, staff, and volunteers.
-Open concert hall doors: Come and go as you need.
-Cool down spaces.
-Pre-visit stories. Going to the Kimmel Center. Concert at The Philadelphia Orchestra.
