Among the many orchestras Washington Performing Arts has presented over the decades, we’ve enjoyed the most enduring relationship with The Philadelphia Orchestra. In addition to the return of dynamic music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Washington Performing Arts audiences will have the opportunity to hear guest pianist Jan Lisiecki twice during the 2014-15 season: first, making his D.C. debut on our Hayes Piano Series, and then as the concerto soloist on this performance. Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 is a signature work for Nézet-Séguin. How interesting for our loyal orchestra patrons to compare this upcoming performance with last season’s interpretation by Yuri Temirkanov and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic!
