In 2012 The Philadelphia Orchestra began a long-term partnership with Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), the first time any U.S. orchestra had co-created a long-term residency in China. On a return visit in 2016 with Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Philadelphians performed a rousing concert of works by Sibelius, Rachmaninoff, and Rimsky-Korsakov with pianist Lang Lang.
The original concert at the National Centre for the Performing Arts was made possible through the support and partnership of the National Centre for the Performing Arts. The video of this performance is used with kind permission from Lang Lang.
