PlayIN at the Kimmel Center for Double Bass

The Philadelphia Orchestra invites bass players of all ages across a range of abilities to participate in an exciting FREE community event, a PlayIN for Double Bass!

Now’s your chance to play with Philadelphia Orchestra musicians, led by Henry G. Scott. Principal Bass Harold Robinson, Assistant Principal Bass Joseph Conyers, David Fay, and Robert Kesselman will play side-by-side with participants.

Music will be provided for the instrument parts required. Upon registering online, you will receive an e-mail within 48 hours assigning your parts and providing instructions for their download.

What do I need to bring?

Download and print your music for the Bass PlayIN. If you play seated, please bring a stool. A music stand will be provided for you.

Where may I store my instrument case and coat during the event?

A secured storage area (“a bass check”) will be provided for participants during the Bass PlayIN. 

When should I arrive? How long will the event last?

Registered participants are asked to arrive between 4:45 and 5:00 PM. Rehearsal will commence at 5:15 PM. Volunteers will be present to direct you as needed. The event begins promptly at 5:30 PM and will run no longer than one hour.
