2016 Asia, May 29: Macao

The Orchestra rehearsed in the morning for its second concert in Macao, which included some new repertoire for the tour: Johann Strauss Jr.’s “Tales from the Vienna Woods” Waltz, the Suite No. 1 from Bizet’s Carmen, and two works with violinist Ryu Goto, Prokofiev’s First Violin Concerto and Takemitsu’s Nostalghia: In Memory of Andrei Tarkovsky. 2016 Asia, May 27: Macao

The Orchestra departed Beijing for Macao today, where they will present two concerts at the Venetian Macao. Sands China Ltd. President and COO Wilfred Wong welcomes them to Macao at a press conference held at the Four Seasons Hotel Macao. 2016 Asia, May 22: Shanghai

The Orchestra spent only one full day in Shanghai—and it was a busy one. Twenty-five musicians spent the morning in a 90-minute rehearsal for an afternoon side-by-side concert later that afternoon. Also that afternoon the Orchestra proudly signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Shanghai Media Group. That evening, the Philadelphians performed in the Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
