2015 Europe, May 26: Dresden to Berlin

2015 Europe, May 24-25: Dresden

The Orchestra arrived in Dresden and had just a few hours before they were due at the Semperoper. The following day, May 25, was not only Memorial Day in the U.S. but Whit Monday (the day after Pentecost) in much of Europe, including Germany. Many businesses in Dresden were closed and many of its residents ventured south to sunny climates for the long weekend.

Friends Old and New: The Philadelphia Orchestra Triumphs Again in China

Judging by the audience response, the Pearl River Delta Residency was a smashing success. Over the past week, as part of the Orchestra’s ongoing strategic partnership with China, musicians from the ensemble led by Assistant Conductor Lio Kuokman delighted music-lovers from Hong Kong to Macao to Shenzhen.
