PlayIN with The Philadelphia Orchestra

Come sit side-by-side with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra at one of the popular PlayIN events being presented this season. Musicians of all ages across a range of abilities are invited to join the Fabulous Philadelphians onstage—Philly style!—in a shared music-making event that will excite and inspire.

Each PlayIN will be filmed and / or photographed to potentially be used for future promotion.

The Philadelphia Orchestra's PlayINs are funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Harp PlayIN

Saturday, April 13, at 6 PM

Back by popular demand! Philadelphia Orchestra Principal Harp Elizabeth Hainen and former Boston Symphony Principal Harp Ann Hobson Pilot will lead a Harp PlayIN in Commonwealth Plaza under the Kimmel Center’s 150-foot glass-vaulted dome.This community event is open to musicians of all ages across a range of abilities to join in a shared music-making event. The PlayIN will be led by Assistant Conductor Tristan Rais-Sherman and will last approximately one hour.

At-Home PlayIN for Tuba/Euphonium

Principal Tuba Carol Jantsch

On May 1, International Tuba Day, Principal Tuba Carol Jantsch and the ensemble Tubular released three videos with unique arrangements by Carol herself. Tuba and euphonium players around the world were encouraged to submit videos of themselves playing along with the recording, for the chance to win a lesson with Carol.

The Philadelphia Orchestra invites bass players of all ages and abilities to participate in an exciting community event. All bass players and audience members are welcome to join this fun experience, hosted by members of The Philadelphia Orchestra’s bass section and Kensho Watanabe.

PlayIN for Strings

Step onto Verizon Hall’s stage and sit side-by-side with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal for an unforgettable string PlayIN. The event will be led by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Conducting Fellow Lina Gonzalea-Granados on November 23, 2019.

Advanced and intermediate level string players (violin, viola, cello, and bass) of all ages are invited to join the musicians on stage in a shared music-making event that will excite and inspire.
