Where were you born? I was born in Philadelphia.
What is your most treasured possession? My cat, Tahoe.
What’s your favorite Philadelphia restaurant? It’s a three-way tie between the Continental Mid-town, Parc, and Loch Bar (all three make excellent cocktails!).
If you could ask one composer one question what would it be? I would ask Florence Price why she didn’t date her sketches/revisions.
What piece of music never fails to move you? Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 and Dawson’s Negro Folk Symphony.
When did you join the Orchestra? I joined in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
What instrument/s do you play? Once upon a time I played viola, trumpet, flute, and clarinet. Now, I would have to say I play the photocopier and double on the pencil sharpener (librarian jokes, ha!).
What’s your favorite type of food? I can eat a cheeseburger on any given day!
What books are on your nightstand? I’m currently reading Influence Is Your Superpower: The Science of Winning Hearts, Sparking Change, and Making Good Things Happen by Zoe Chance.
Do you speak any other languages? I learned Italian, Spanish, and Korean but my ability to speak them ebbs and flows.
Do you follow any blogs? I don’t follow any blogs but I try to follow things that interest me on social media accounts pertaining to them (knitting, cocktail making, baking/cooking, etc.).
Do you have any hobbies? I love to knit (currently working on my second-ever sweater!) and make cocktails!
Do you have a favorite movie? I have too many to list, but my favorite genres are sci-fi, fantasy, and thriller/action.
Is there a piece of music that isn’t in the standard orchestral repertoire that should be? After the Orchestra’s performances of it this fall, I’d say Willam Grant Still’s Symphony 4.
What’s on your iPod? I haven’t charged my iPod in years, but there is a bit of everything on it.
When was the first time you heard The Philadelphia Orchestra? I cannot remember exactly but it would have been sometime in elementary school. We would take field trips to see the Orchestra’s School Concerts.
