The Philadelphia Orchestra welcomes you to the Academy of Music

Opened in 1857, The Academy of Music is the oldest opera house in the United States that is still used for its original purpose and it received National Historic Landmark status in 1962. An anchor of Philadelphia’s performing arts community, the Academy of Music is home to Opera Philadelphia, The Pennsylvania Ballet, and is the premier venue for Broadway performances, arts education programs, and memorable life events. As owner and steward of the Academy of Music and its enduring legacy, The Philadelphia Orchestra looks forward to welcoming you back into the hall post-pandemic to enjoy our “Grand Old Lady of Locust Street” in person once again. In the meantime, please join us for a virtual tour of the Academy of Music and learn what makes this National Historic Landmark so special.
