Nathalie Stutzmann Conductor
Emanuel Ax Piano

Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4
Brahms Symphony No. 4

Program Notes

Public audiences first heard Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto in a legendary concert that also premiered his iconic Fifth and Sixth symphonies. Known for its tenderness, the Piano Concerto No. 4 illustrates Beethoven’s ability to create vulnerable, gentle works just as spellbinding as his towering symphonies.

The one and only Emanuel Ax comes to Verizon Hall March 31–April 2 to perform this unforgettable concerto under the baton of Principal Guest Conductor Nathalie Stutzmann. Also on the program, Brahms’s hauntingly beautiful Fourth Symphony.
