(Philadelphia, October 23, 2020)—While Halloween might look a little different this year, The Philadelphia Orchestra’s annual tradition continues! Orchestra musicians will present a bewitching performance of chamber music at The Franklin Institute as part of the Our City, Your Orchestra series. The recorded concert will feature Juliette Kang (first associate concertmaster), Burchard Tang (viola), Priscilla Lee (associate principal cello), Joseph Conyers (acting associate principal bass), Samuel Caviezel (associate principal clarinet), Daniel Matsukawa (principal bassoon), and Jennifer Montone (principal horn), and includes the first and fourth movements from Beethoven’s Septet, as well as haunting Halloween-themed arrangements by Matsukawa in celebration of the museum’s upcoming Franklin Fright event for families. The program will be available for free on www.philorch.org/our-city-your-orchestra and www.facebook.com/philorch, beginning Monday, October 26, 2020, at 7:00 PM ET.
The Fabulous Philadelphians will take to the Digital Stage and get into the scary spirit with the Halloween Celebration Family Concert, beginning Friday, October 30, 2020, at 7:00 PM ET. Assistant Conductor Erina Yashima will leadan orchestral adventure featuring classic chilling compositions and wickedly exciting treats for the whole family. The program features the Orchestra, as well a brass quintet, performing in costume on stage at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. There will also be pop-up commentary and special animations throughout the program. A magical cauldron of festive activities for children will be available on www.philorch.org to encourage active listening and participation. Additional Halloween content will be available to all ticketholders in the Digital Lobby, available one hour before the premiere performance on Friday evening.
