Tian Wei from CGTN, the English-language news channel of China Global Television Network, interviews Matías Tarnopolsky, president and CEO of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc. The Diaoyutai State Guest House is a diplomatic complex where receptions are held for visiting foreign dignitaries. The site has a long history of imperial significance. Diaoyutai means “angling platform” and it was a favorite fishing spot of Emperor Zhangzong of Jin (1168–1208). The Guesthouse itself was built to receive heads of state and government officials who were invited to China for the 10th anniversary celebration of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
